    Abstract:
    A new study of tiapride in the alcohol withdrawal syndrome is reported. Its purpose was to evaluate the efficacy and the lag-period of tiapride used systematically, on admission, by the intravenous route. Among twenty patients only one failure was recorded. In five patients, improvement only appeared slowly. It was never necessary to discontinue treatment because of side effects. The patients retained normal vigilance and were rapidly able to resume their activities.
