  • Title: [Circulatory and adverse effects of nonionic contrast media in arteriography. Results of a double-blind study].
    Author: Deininger HK, Franzen G.
Journal: Radiologe; 1983 Jul; 23(7):327-33. PubMed ID: 6353478.
    Abstract:
The effect to the local toleration of different concentrations of new non-ionic contrast media (Iopamidol 300 and 370) has been examined by means of a randomized intraindividual double-blind study and by the use of uniform parameters of application. In all cases the pain and heat effect were tolerable for the non-anaesthesized patients. The application of the higher concentration of the contrast media did not strengthen or intensify these side effects, which were formerly connected with the arteriography of the extremities. In cases, where the circulation is heavily disturbed, the opacification of the peripheral branches of the leg arteries can be improved by the use of the higher concentration. The hemodynamic effect was low and disappeared after a few minutes.
