  • Title: Actin and coordination of metabolic processes.
    Author: Poglazov BF.
Journal: Biochem Int; 1983 Jun; 6(6):757-65. PubMed ID: 6385979.
    Abstract:
The current data on actin content in muscles and non-muscle cells were analyzed. It was demonstrated that actin is present in large amounts in all living cells. Study of actin interaction with different enzymes is of particular interest. A concept has been put forward, which is based on our experimental data and on the data obtained in other laboratories concerning the effects of F-actin on kinase phosphorylase, glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase and lactate dehydrogenase. According to this concept, actin is a protein which coordinates metabolic processes.
