Title: [Effect of isoptin (verapamil) on the indicators of central hemodynamics in patients with acute myocardial infarction]. Author: Avaliani ShG, Karpov IuA, Gratsianskiĭ NA, Ruda MIa. Journal: Kardiologiia; 1984 Oct; 24(10):55-9. PubMed ID: 6394866. Abstract: Verapamil was administered to 35 patients with acute myocardial infarction during the first 12 h of the disease. Parameters of the central hemodynamics were studied by invasive methods: the end diastolic pressure in the left artery was measured after its sounding with Swan-Ganz catheter, the cardiac output was measured by the method of thermodilution using a special computer. It has been established that in patients with clinically uncomplicated acute myocardial infarction, isoptin used in doses higher than those usually employed in the treatment of arrhythmia and angina in coronary heart disease patients caused no serious changes in the central hemodynamics which could have limited its administration in the above dosage. The negative inotropic action of verapamil in these patients is insignificant and seems to be compensated by its potential vasculodilating properties.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
