Abstract: Hypophosphatemia is a common disorder caused by decreased intake, increased loss or transcellular shift of phosphorus. Symptoms of severe hypophosphatemia include reversible depression of myocardial function, acute respiratory failure, coma, rhabdomyolysis, osteomalacia, renal tubular acidosis and hemolysis.
