Title: Abnormal prolactin response to thyrotrophic releasing hormone in essential hypertension. Author: Hauger-Klevene JH, Pinkas MB. Journal: Int J Clin Pharmacol Res; 1983; 3(2):111-4. PubMed ID: 6434439. Abstract: The effect of thyrotrophin releasing hormone (TRH) on prolactin (PRL) levels was studied in 11 patients with moderate essential hypertension (WHO phases I and II) and in 11 sex and age matched normal subjects. In 90.9 per cent of the patients with essential hypertension presenting normal or elevated basal PRL levels, the response to TRH was blunted. The abnormal response of PRL secretion to TRH administration may reflect the dysfunction of dopaminergic and noradrenergic hypothalamic systems in essential hypertension.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
