  • Title: [Immunologic aspects of glomerular kidney diseases].
    Author: Zimmermann S, Schirmer K.
Journal: Z Gesamte Inn Med; 1981 Mar; 36(5):172-6. PubMed ID: 6454308.
    Abstract:
The experiment is made to describe the present knowledge of immune pathogenesis of the glomerulonephritis and the therapeutic account resulting from this. On principle it is to be differentiated between basal membrane-antibody-glomerulonephritis, as it is to be found above all in Goodpastures syndrome, and the essentially more frequent immune complex nephritides. However, immune complexes lead to pathological effects only then, when the capacity of phagocytosis has been transgressed or a qualitative or quantitative reduction of the immune response at humoral and/or cellular level is existing. Therapeutic points of influence result from the removal of the antigen, the influence on the production of antibodies (immunosuppression, immunostimulation, induction of the immunotolerance) and the influence on the effector mechanisms by antiphlogistics.
