  • Title: [ECG changes and their comparison with x-ray data in the late period after an operation for a secondary interatrial septal defect].
Author: Konstantinov BA, Gromova GV, Amable DK, Kulagina TI, Borodina NI.
Journal: Kardiologiia; 1981 Nov; 21(11):63-8. PubMed ID: 6458727.
    Abstract:
The authors report on 78 patients operated on for congenital defect of the heart -- the secondary atrial septal defect. The changes in the ECG and X-ray data were studied prior to and at late periods after the operation (from 6 months to 8 years); the age of patients was from 2 to 47 years. Regress of ECG signs of hypertrophy of the right ventricle was seen in 87.6%, and normalization of the cardiac volume in 72.7% of cases, especially in children. This speaks for the efficacy of surgical treatment.
