  • Title: [Clinical radicular symptoms in lumbosacral pain studies by radiculography with Dimer X].
    Author: Musioł A, Wawrzynek Z, Arkuszewski Z, Gajos L.
Journal: Neurol Neurochir Pol; 1981; 15(4):469-73. PubMed ID: 6460201.
    Abstract:
Two hundred patients with low-back pain syndrome were studied. The results of neurological examination were compared with those of radiculography in these cases. It was found that although herniation of the nucleus pulposus at the L4-5 level is twice as frequent as at the L5-S1 level, radicular signs were demonstrated in 69% caused by injury to the S1 root and in 57% by injury to the L5 root. In surgically treated cases agreement between the result of surgical exploration and the result of radiculography was demonstrated in 99.7% of cases.
