  • Title: [Significance of prostaglandin formation in the endometrium for cycle regulation in the female].
Author: Seifert B, Hassler MP, Bettzieche H.
Journal: Zentralbl Gynakol; 1983; 105(18):1169-73. PubMed ID: 6579805.
    Abstract:
By taking 91 samples of tissue the contents of PGE2 and PGF2 alpha in the cyclic endometrium was detected. Until the beginning of the menstruation a continuous rise of both substances could be observed. Especially during the latter half of the cycle the concentration of PGF2 alpha increased fundamentally causing a shifting within the relationship of both primary prostaglandins in favour of PGF2 alpha at the end of the cycle. Whereas hormones stimulate the formation of prostaglandins in the endometrium metindol stops it.
