    Abstract:
    Acute fetal distress occurred during the first stage of labour in a multipara. Since Caesarean section was unavoidably delayed an intravenous bolus dose of ritodrine was given resulting in abolition of uterine contractions and return of the fetal heart tracing to normal. Subsequently a healthy infant was born by Caesarean section.
