    Abstract:
    Deep ulceration of the esophagus is the most common significant complication of endoscopic injection sclerosis of varices. Four patients with persistent bleeding from sclerotherapy-induced ulcers were treated with sucralfate. Adherence of sucralfate to the ulcerated areas was demonstrated endoscopically, and bleeding stopped in three patients. Sucralfate may be useful in the treatment of esophageal ulcers caused by sclerotherapy.
