Title: [Development of capillaries in the human brain]. Author: Lomakin AV, Chertok VM. Journal: Zh Nevropatol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova; 1983; 83(7):1004-7. PubMed ID: 6624316. Abstract: The development of capillaries in auditory, motor and visual areas of the cortex in males (ranging in age from 6-8 months of embryonic development to 60-80 years) was studied, using Gomory's method of alkaline phosphatase activity assessment and electron microscopy. It was found that cerebral capillaries formation continues in the course of man's entire life. It is noteworthy that the rate of capillary growth decreases with age, this feature being particularly prominent by the age of 60 to 80 years.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
