    Abstract:
    Squamous carcinoma of the breast is a rare neoplasm and should not be confused with spindle cell skin carcinoma which derives from the nipple. Differential diagnosis includes other primary (e.g. medullary) carcinomas where more or less extensive zones of typical or atypical squamous metaplasia are found. The pathogenesis of this neoplasm as well as its biological behavior is discussed in the light of personal experience. Literature data are reviewed.
