  • Title: Limiting state regulation of reproductive decisions.
    Author: Glantz LH.
Journal: Am J Public Health; 1984 Feb; 74(2):168-9. PubMed ID: 6691534.
    Abstract:
Two decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court in recent abortion related cases are analyzed for indications of the Court's future direction in this area. In deciding City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health and Planned Parenthood of Kansas City v. Ashcroft, the majority of Justices rejected state or city requirements that would place undue or arbitrary burdens on women seeking abortions and on physicians performing them. The author concludes that at present six Justices uphold the Roe v. Wade decision that the states should not interfere in an individual's reproductive decisions, but that three of the Justices appear ready to overrule it.
