Title: Jejunoileal bypass 1983. Author: Buckwalter JA, Herbst CA. Journal: Am Surg; 1984 Mar; 50(3):159-60. PubMed ID: 6703528. Abstract: Forty-eight patients treated by jejunoileal bypass (JIB) between 1972 and 1979 provide the clinical material for this report. Of the 20 patients who had JIB performed at North Carolina Memorial Hospital, it has been reversed in 15. All the other patients were referred for reversal of the JIB. The indications for reversal, operative techniques, and complications are discussed. Jejunoileal bypass is no longer acceptable treatment for morbid obesity. Because of the ever-present possibility of serious sequellae all patients with intact JIB should be followed by an informed physician.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
