  • Title: Differential diagnosis of mediastinal fluid levels visualized on computed tomography.
Author: Seltzer SE, Herman PG, Sagel SS.
Journal: J Comput Assist Tomogr; 1984 Apr; 8(2):244-6. PubMed ID: 6707273.
    Abstract:
Mediastinal lesions containing three types of fluid levels were studied by computed tomography. Air-fluid, fat-fluid, and fluid-fluid levels were easily recognized and were caused by a colonic interposition, a cystic teratoma, and a hematoma, respectively. Computed tomography can be useful for detection and precise diagnosis of mediastinal lesions that contain fluid levels.
