Title: [Value and limitations of isolated ventricular shunt in non-traumatic cerebellar hematomas]. Author: Rousseaux M, Lesoin F, Combelle G, Petit H, Jomin M. Journal: Neurochirurgie; 1984; 30(1):41-4. PubMed ID: 6717715. Abstract: Two cases of cerebellar haemorrhage with hydrocephalus are presented which were successfully treated with isolated ventricular drainage. Both occurred in high risk patients, 77 and 68 years old. The first observation confirms the value of this operative procedure when the volume of the haemorrhage is relatively restricted, whatever may be the importance of the neurologic symptoms and brainstem disfunction. But the second observation also shows the risk of misappreciating the causative lesion (here a single metastasis). The importance of an extended C.T. follow up must be underlined.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
