  • Title: [Diagnosis of leiomyosarcomas using an immunomorphological method].
    Author: Alkadarskiĭ AS, Litvinova LV.
Journal: Arkh Patol; 1982; 44(7):58-62. PubMed ID: 6751295.
    Abstract:
Indirect Coons method and electron microscopy were used to study in detail 5 observations of spindle-cell sarcomas of the soft tissues histologically diagnosed as leiomyosarcoma. Positive immunofluorescence with an antiserum to myosin of human smooth muscles was observed in 2 cases and confirmed by electron microscopic examinations. Two neoplasms whose cells contained no myosin were verified electron microscopically as tumors of a non-myogenic nature. The validity of the immunomorphological and electron microscopical result depends of the kind of surgical intervention. Positive results of immunofluorescence tests verify the histological diagnosis of the tumor, negative results indicate a non-myogenic nature of the neoplasm.
