  • Title: Humoral mechanisms of arterial hypertension in patients in the acute phase of myocardial infarction.

Journal: Cor Vasa; 1982; 24(5):329-38. PubMed ID: 6756783.
    Abstract:
In 140 patients with extensive myocardial infarction (MI) with arterial hypertension or without it, the state was investigated of certain indices of the blood pressor and depressor system, their mutual relations and their relation to indices of central haemodynamics. An increase was found in the activity both of the pressor and the depressor systems in blood in the acute phase of MI. An analysis of correlations has shown that arterial hypertension can in the acute phase of MI be caused not only by predominance of pressor factors (aldosterone, cortisol, plasma renin activity) but also by a relative weakening of the activity of depressor factors - the blood kinin system, the progesterone level - or, in other words, by a disturbance of the mutual relation between the pressor and depressor systems, which participate in the control of homeostasis in the organism.
