  • Title: Double-blind comparative clinical trial of carprofen versus diclofenac-Na in patients with coxarthrosis.
    Author: Knüsel O.
Journal: Eur J Rheumatol Inflamm; 1982; 5(4):536-42. PubMed ID: 6759139.
    Abstract:
A randomized double-blind trial was performed in 50 patients with moderate to severe coxarthrosis, 25 receiving 300 mg carprofen and 25 150 mg diclofenac-Na daily in 3 doses. The patients were treated for 21 days. With regard to clinical effect (anti-inflammatory and analgesic), both carprofen and diclofenac-Na exhibited good efficacy; statistical evaluation failed to reveal a significant difference between the therapy groups for the parameters considered (Fisher's exact test, Mann-Whitney U-test). Few adverse reactions were registered; they were severe enough to justify interruption of treatment in 1 patient receiving carprofen and 3 receiving diclofenac-Na.
