Title: [Skiing accidents in children (author's transl)]. Author: Schwarzenbach M, Röthlisberger M, Herwig K, Biener K. Journal: MMW Munch Med Wochenschr; 1981 Mar 13; 123(11):429-33. PubMed ID: 6783848. Abstract: In Arosa, a coherent skiing arena, all skiing accidents were systemically recorded by the two general practitioners for 10 years. The incidence of accidents to children compared with that of adolescents and adults was of particular interest. The incidence of accidents to children has more markedly decreased. The frequency of collisions is increasing. The most common injuries to children are fractures, followed by sprains and contusions. On the other hand sprains are the most common injury to adolescents and adults, followed by fractures and an almost equal number of contusions. The dangers of skiing and the severity of the injuries are discussed. Demands are made for prevention of skiing accidents.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
