Title: Iododerma complicating cardiovascular surgery. Author: Willams LR, Rietschel RL. Journal: South Med J; 1980 Jul; 73(7):937-9. PubMed ID: 6966826. Abstract: A patient had cardiovascular surgery and received pericardial povidone-iodine irrigation along with extensive topical povidone-iodine. A postoperative febrile response occurred and persisted despite antibiotic therapy. Within 24 hours of the administration of oral potassium iodide, a pustular iododerma occurred. Discontinuation of oral and topical iodine resulted in defervescence of fever and resolution of the cutaneous eruption.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
