Title: Prevention of abdominal wound disruption utilizing the Smead-Jones closure technique. Author: Wallace D, Hernandez W, Schlaerth JB, Nalick RN, Morrow CP. Journal: Obstet Gynecol; 1980 Aug; 56(2):226-30. PubMed ID: 6994003. Abstract: Midline abdominal wound closure with the Smead-Jones technique was reviewed on an oncology service. No dehiscences were recorded for 747 patients. This result was compared with a lower-risk gynecologic service that used layered wound closures.
