Abstract: One hundred and seventy-six patients were evaluated for esophageal reflux after gastrectomy. Apart from proximally and totally gastrectomized cases, the conventional Billroth-I type of distal subtotal gastrectomy destroys many esophageal reflux preventive mechanisms.
