Title: Pain and myoclonus during induction with etomidate. A double-blind, controlled evaluation of the influence of droperidol and fentanyl. Author: Helmers JH, Adam AA, Giezen J. Journal: Acta Anaesthesiol Belg; 1981; 32(2):141-7. PubMed ID: 7027723. Abstract: To compare the incidence and severity of pain and myoclonus, 83 patients, premedicated with oral diazepam, received a double-blind intravenous injection of either droperidol 5 mg, fentanyl 0.1 mg or normal saline two minutes before induction with etomidate. The only statistically significant difference between the three groups was the decreased incidence of involuntary movements in the fentanyl and the droperidol group as compared with the normal saline group.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
