    Abstract:
    Report on the development of the scientific and operational fundamentals of BCG-vaccination, of the vaccine and standardization of the methods of vaccination. The health benefit of BCG-vaccination is still everywhere greater than the nuisance by undersirable reactions. Complications were seen in 0.9 cases per 100,000 vaccinations, in Europe in 1.4 cases among 100,000 vaccinated persons. The appeared as larger infiltrations at the site of vaccination, as supparations at the site of vaccination or of lymph nodes, as lymphadenitis and very rarely as osteomyelitis and fatal outcome after vaccination. Revaccination after waning of the allergy and protection is discussed.
