There is high risk of malignant melanoma in large congenital nevi. Therefore the early operative removal is advised, not only for the prevention of malignant tumors, but also for psychologic and social reasons. The surgical and reconstructive methods include serial excisions, free skin-grafts and local pedicled flaps.
