Title: [Information value of a complex gastrological study method and its separate components in diagnosing destructive lesions of the gastric mucosa]. Author: Kliukina LB, Golub GD, Salomatin VI. Journal: Vopr Onkol; 1982; 28(11):33-9. PubMed ID: 7147829. Abstract: The results of roentgenological, gastrofibroscopic and cytological examination of 327 patients with gastric ulcer disease are presented. It was found that gastric ulcer disease can be adequately diagnosed by single roentgenological and gastroscopic examination in 74 and 80.4% of cases, respectively. The effectiveness rises to 83.5 and 89% (P less than 0.001), respectively, if repeated examinations are carried out, following a course of antiinflammatory therapy, or more sophisticated procedures are applied. Cytological method is sufficiently reliable in identifying benign ulcerative changes in gastric mucosa (99.4%) and is suitable for estimating the advancement of proliferative processes in gastric epithelium.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
