Title: Pott's paraplegia. Journal: South Med J; 1978 Nov; 71(11):1379-82. PubMed ID: 715488. Abstract: Tuberculosis of the spine associated with neurologic deficit has fortunately become an uncommon disease. Of 48 patients with Pott's paraplegia seen over a 20-year period, 28 were adequately followed up. Ten patients in this series died, most of causes not directly related to the tuberculosis, and ten patients were lost to follow-up. Most of the patients in this study were in the older age group which, in part, accounts for the mortality. Of those who did survive, the outlook for recovery from the paraplegia was very good with or without surgical intervention.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
