Title: [Spatial representation disorders in lesions of the right and left hemispheres of the brain]. Author: Chentsov NIu. Journal: Zh Nevropatol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova; 1982; 82(12):63-6. PubMed ID: 7164683. Abstract: Disturbances of space imaginations were examined in patients (adults and children) with affections of the posterior divisions of the brain hemispheres. The results of the examinations carried out with the use of Piaget's methods showed that the disturbances of the topological imaginations were associated mainly with affections of the right hemisphere (both in adults and children). Disturbances of projective imaginations and ideas on the coordinate system in adults were associated primarily with affections of the left hemisphere, or showed no connection with the side of the affection. The results obtained are at variance with the widely spread viewpoint that topological disturbances are associated primarily with affections of the right hemisphere, and the functional asymmetry remains unchanged with age.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
