Title: [Induced abortion using intrauterine, extra-amniotic administration of prostaglandin F2 alpha in primigravidae]. Author: Schulze G, Koinzer G. Journal: Zentralbl Gynakol; 1978; 100(19):1272-7. PubMed ID: 716695. Abstract: With 115 nulliparae abortion was induced through intermittend extraamniotic application of PG F2alpha. The intermittend PG-application was successful in 99.13% (81.73% incomplete abortions; 17.40% "missed abortions" with opening of the cervix uteri). In the opposite to others authors "missed abortion" looks as a good result. The mean PG-Dosis was 14,33 mg and the abortion time 15,40 hours.--The rate of morbidity was 6,1 per cent. Prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2A) was used to induce abortion in 155 nulliparae, 14-24 years of age. 114 of the patients were single, 1 was divorced. 69.6% had not completed their educations. 750 mcg PGF2A was instilled extraamnially per hour, which was increased to 1-1.5 mg after the ninth application. The success rate was 99.1%; in 17.4% of these cases a "retained abortion" was observed, in 81.7% an incomplete abortion. The average total dosage was 15.9 mg PGF2A, and the average induction-abortion interval was 16 hours and 59 minutes. The length of pregnancy had no effect on the effectiveness of PGR2A. The rate of complications was 1.4 per patient, mainly subfebrile temperature and nausea. The average hospitalization period was 7.9 days. The morbidity rate was 6.1%, which was due to infection. Prostaglandin induced abortion is preferred for nulliparae and is recommended for abortions in the second trimester, cases of hydatidiform mole or missed abortion in primigravidae, and cases of unfavorable cervical findings.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
