Title: [Clinical experiences with intraoperative radiotherapy of locally advanced carcinomas]. Author: Abe M, Takahashi M. Journal: Strahlentherapie; 1982 Oct; 158(10):585-93. PubMed ID: 7179341. Abstract: The authors describe the clinical results of intraoperative radiotherapy in case of tumors of the stomach, the pancreas, the bile ducts, the colorectum, the prostate, the mediastinum, the brain and in case of soft tissue sarcomas. This radiotherapeutic method allows to administer precisely into the target volume a cancericidal dose and to prevent essential side effects, because the critical organs are evacuated from the irradiation field and the tumor region is directly exposed to radiation. Among our patients with not resectable tumors who were submitted to intraoperative radiotherapy, a considerable number of persons had a survival time exceeding five years.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
