  • Title: Dysmature infants in women with jejunoileal bypass.
    Author: Eriksen PS, Fischer-Rasmussen W, Philipsen T.
Journal: Z Geburtshilfe Perinatol; 1980 Feb; 184(1):51-3. PubMed ID: 7195108.
    Abstract:
Three cases of pregnancy and birth after jejunoileal bypass operation are reported. All three patients gave birth to dysmature infants. Two of the infants were heavily dysmature. Their mothers had not stabilized their body weights postoperatively. Serial determinations of biparietaldiameter (BPD) seemed in these cases to reveal the intrauterine growth retardation better than did estriol measurements. This present study confirms the suggestion that pregnancy should be postponed until postoperative weight stabilization has been achieved. When pregnancy has occurred, intensive controls concerning clinical examinations, BPD and serum estriol measurements is recommended in addition to metabolic controls.
