    Abstract:
    A comparative study of the pattern of perinatal mortality from diabetes mellitus and in the control group with due account of structural changes in placentas of women suffering from diabetes mellitus was performed. The results allowed one to evaluate the influence of the "risk factors" of maternal diabetes and complications of pregnancy on the rate of perinatal mortality and to show the main causes leading to stillbirths and neonatal deaths with diabetes embryo- and fetopathies.
