Title: [Plethysmography in phlebology]. Author: Partsch H. Journal: Hautarzt; 1981 Feb; 32(2):59-62. PubMed ID: 7228664. Abstract: A survey of the practical use of plethysmography for phlebological purposes is given. The most important applications for plethysmographic methods are: Screening for deep leg vein thrombosis with satisfactory accuracy in total proximal occlusions; estimation of capillary filtration rate (no clinical value); function of muscle pump, indication and control of therapy; quantitative arterial blood measurement; and determination of systolic blood pressure at the ankle level and in the toes.
