  • Title: [Acute glomerulonephritis in children. I. Clinical manifestations].
Author: Martínez J, Piedrahita V, Suarez G, Aguilar L, de Sánchez LM.
Journal: Bol Med Hosp Infant Mex; 1981; 38(1):111-8. PubMed ID: 7284061.
    Abstract:
The symptoms and short-term evolution of 617 patients with acute glomerulonephritis are discussed. Edema was the most frequent symptom (93%) at the time that gross hematuria was only present in 65% of cases. On the other side, heart failure was detected in 33% of patients and neurological symptoms in 6%. Short-term follow-up of 381 of these patients show that microscopic hematuria cleared up after six months in 73% of cases, but lasted more than one year in only 4% of patients.
