  • Title: [Mineral content in the serum of young bulls in a bull rearing center].
    Author: Knoblauch H, Körber R.
Journal: Arch Exp Veterinarmed; 1978; 32(5):737-49. PubMed ID: 736718.
    Abstract:
Hygiene checks were applied to 97 young bulls of dairy breeds and 300 of beef breeds on a bull raising centre, between 1972 and 1975. Their normal blood serum levels of organic phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium were compared to the levels of the same minerals in feed rations. Blood serum values were compared also between animals with pathological changes in the supporting, locomotor, and genital systems as well as in sperma and pellet, on the one hand, and those without such changes, on the other. Also compared were sons of different fathers of the beef breed, with the view of elucidating certain peculiarities specific of blood lines.
