    Abstract:
    An experimental study of elementary rational activity was carried out on European beavers (Castor fiber L.). The ability to solve an elementary logical task consisting in extrapolation of the direction in which the bait disappeared from the visual field, was chosen as a sign of this activity. It is shown that anomals of this species are able to cope with this extrapolational task. The ways of solving the problem manifest a considerable individual variability. The ability of European beavers to solve the simplest logical tasks permits to conclude on the development of elementary rational activity in these animals.
