Abstract: A discussion of the intravenous use by narcotic addicts in metropolitan St. Louis of a combination of pentazocine and tripelennamine, known as "T's and blues," is presented. The folklore and ritual of "T"'s and blues" use were gleaned from interviews with addicts. The cause of, possible adverse reactions to, and medical examiners' experience with this new mode of drug abuse are discussed.
