Title: [Value of decompression in preventing posttraumatic diffuse peritonitis: experimental study]. Author: Kirillov IuB, Pankov VI. Journal: Vestn Khir Im I I Grek; 1980 Jun; 124(6):93-5. PubMed ID: 7414875. Abstract: The experiments were performed in 34 dogs. It was shown that after laparotomy and 1 cm dissection of the stomach wall, small and large intestine the animals died of diffuse peritonitis. Decompression of the stomach and intestine with solitary cut wounds reduced the penetration of the stomach and intestine content into the free abdominal cavity and promoted the limitation of the inflammatory process within the wound area.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
