Title: Activating articulation skills through theraplay. Author: Kupperman P, Bligh S, Goodban M. Journal: J Speech Hear Disord; 1980 Nov; 45(4):540-8. PubMed ID: 7442168. Abstract: Speech Theraplay, a method of remediation for children with articulation disorders, is described. The approach is based on parent-child interactions that are postulated to activate articulation acquisition. These interactions between parent and child were duplicated and intensified in the clinical setting. Target phonemes were embedded into spontaneous interactive play, both in isolation and in meaningful exchange. The results of a six-week study indicate improvement in the articulation abilities of six children with this method.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
