  • Title: [Althesin in cryoextraction of the lens].
    Author: Bottazzi D, Arena C, Bellini R, Guglielmetti M.
Journal: Minerva Anestesiol; 1980 Feb; 46(2):229-34. PubMed ID: 7453990.
    Abstract:
The bulbar hypotonizing activity of Althesin in eye surgery has been assessed. The anaesthetic was then utilized in the induction and maintenance of narcosis in cryoextraction operations on the crystalline lens. In the 50 narcoses examined, a mean decrease in ocular tone of 30% was noted with respect to basal value five minutes after induction; tone then reduced further, reaching a mean decrease of 43% with respect to base value, prior to opening of the anterior chamber.
