  • Title: Angiography in the diagnosis of soft tissue tumours.
    Author: Tötterman S, Santavirta S.
Journal: Ann Chir Gynaecol; 1980; 69(4):151-3. PubMed ID: 7469367.
    Abstract:
Angiography was performed on 37 soft tissue tumours in 35 patients. In 13 patients the histopathological diagnosis proved to be malignant and in 22 benign. In 25 tumours angiography had suggested a benign lesion thus giving a false result in four cases. In 11 tumours the angiographic diagnosis was malignant, thus giving a false positive result on 3 occasions. In one case the radiological interpretation was uncertain whether malignant or not. The results of the present series suggest that the use of intra-arterial vasoactive agents is of some help in defining the character and the anatomical extent of the tumour.
