Until recently, surgical reconstruction was the only means available to restore urethral continuity. Although formal urethroplasty may be associated with excellent success rates, impotence and incontinence are potential complications. Endoscopic urethroplasty has recently evolved into a suitable alternative to surgical reconstruction in selected cases.
