Title: [Susceptibility to vibriostatic factor 0/129 of Shigella, Salmonella and entero-invasive Escherichia coli (EIEC)]. Author: Stypułkowska-Misiurewicz H, Augustynowicz E, Andziak J, Kałuzewski S. Journal: Med Dosw Mikrobiol; 1994; 46(4):277-83. PubMed ID: 7603128. Abstract: It has been shown that susceptibility to the vibriostatic factor indicated as 0/129 cannot be considered to be the basic characteristic in differentiating Vibrio strains from Enterobacteriaceae rods. Strains belonging to such absolutely pathogenic taxons as Salmonella, Shigella and EIEC are susceptible even to a low concentration of 10-40 mg/l of this compound. Even low concentration of this pteridine derivative inhibited the growth, on the Mueller-Hinton medium, of strains belonging to pathogenic taxons of the enterobacterial rods: Salmonella, Shigella and EIEC. Susceptible strains occurred within serotype 6 S. flexneri, Salmonella typhi and others. It seems that the 0/129 test can be useful in intraspecies differentiation of pathogenic enterobacterial rods.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
