  • Title: [Comparative study of urography, scintigraphy and renal arteriography in polycystic degeneration of the kidneys].
    Author: Khodorovski Z, Iungovska-Iarosh A, Pentliak O.
Journal: Klin Med (Mosk); 1995; 73(2):39-41. PubMed ID: 7609416.
    Abstract:
In patients with polycystic kidney disease the diagnostic value and complications of urography (84 cases) were compared to those of scintigraphy (84 cases) and renal arteriography (33 cases). In the analyzed material arteriography was shown to be the most useful method in the diagnosis and differentiation of this disease, while scintigraphy was the safest, without any complications. Both the methods were definitely superior to urography in the diagnosis of polycystic kidney disease. Urographic findings may erroneously suggest the diagnosis of kidney cancer in patients with cystic changes more pronounced in one kidney.
