Title: [DDD pacing: an effective treatment for recurrent supraventricular arrhythmia]. Author: Minutiello L. Journal: Minerva Cardioangiol; 1995 Mar; 43(3):85-90. PubMed ID: 7609893. Abstract: DDD pacing may be an effective treatment of recurrent atrial arrhythmias, although not all authors are of this opinion. Twenty patients with age variable from 70 to 87 years, 12 men and 8 women, underwent transvenous implant of DDD pacemakers, for brady-tachy syndrome, a consequence of sick sinus syndrome (SSS). Atrial pacing in DDD mode in selected patients, prevent the rise of atrial arrhythmias, atrial flutter being more sensitive than atrial fibrillation. However, it is obvious that in these patients, the antiarrhythmic therapy, without safety-pacemaker, is bound to fail, as it cannot applied at full dosage for real danger to worsen their bradycardia.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
