    Abstract:
    A perforation in a case of sinus of Valsalva aneurysm misinterpreted first as perforated ulcer and later on as myocarditis made us review the literature (76 cases) for patients' history and diagnostic criteria which lead to the diagnosis. Special references were taken to the following subjects: localization of the aneurysms and direction of perforation; age and sex distribution at the time of perforation; ECG-changes and clinical symptomatology before and after perforation, and to diseases which must be taken into account for differential diagnosis.
