Title: Description of a new species of the genus Camallanus Railliet et Henry, 1915 (Nematoda: Camallanidae) from freshwater fish, Barbus (Puntius) ticto (Günther) from Krishna River, Andhra Pradesh, India. Author: Rajyalakshmi I, Lakshmi CV. Journal: Bol Chil Parasitol; 1994; 49(1-2):20-3. PubMed ID: 7632335. Abstract: A new species of a nematode of the family Camallanidae Railliet et Henry, 1915 from the ovary of freshwater fish, Barbus (Puntius) ticto (Günther) caught off the Krishna River at Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) is described. Description is based on two male and two female specimens from a large number of hosts examined. The specimens do not agree with descriptions of known species of the genus Camallanus, hence a new species Camallanus praveeni has been erected to accommodate the present specimens. The new species could be distinguished by body measurements, in the nature of tridents, position of nerve ring and excretory pore, position and length of spicules, number and arrangement of caudal papillae, vulva position and shape of tail end.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
